NL&T-teaching material Blue Energy officially certified
On Tuesday 22 of June Harrie Eijkelhof, Chairman of the Committee Nature, Life & Technology (NLT), handed out 21 certificates for the developed NLT teaching packages. Wetsus received one of these certificates for developing a package about Blue Energy. The material will be nationally implemented within the beta course Nature, life and Technology (NLT), which started in 2007 at 200 secondary schools.
The Blue Energy package is developed in cooperation with the secondary schools Stedelijk Gymnasium Leeuwarden, RSG Trompmeester Steenwijk, universities and Wetsus. With this package the students get to learn what Blue Energy is, which technological processes are used and how it might be implemented in the future.
The national development centre for NL&T and experts reviewed the material on theoretical content and educational level. Teachers and students tested the material on feasibility and attraction. The results showed that teachers and especially the students are very enthusiastic about the material. In particularly the Blue Energy toolkit, which is optionally available for schools, is very appealing for the students. With this toolkit they can build their own setup which can be used for experiments and it gives more information about the principal of this technology.
From September on schools can download the material from the website www.betavak-nlt.nl.
In the coming weeks Wetsus will also print a few hardcopies of the material and provide them to the participating school and institutes.
