DOW Energy Dissertation Prize awarded to dr. ir. Rene Rozendal
Rene Rozendal has received the DOW Energy Dissertation Prize for his Wageningen University/Wetsus dissertation “Hydrogen Production through Biocatalyzed Electrolysis”.

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences nominates the candidates for the prize, which includes a certificate and 5.000 euro. Candidates are PhD’s, who did outstanding research for the advancement of sustainable developments in the process industry and especially energy use. In 2007 Rozendal defended his PhD-thesis in Leeuwarden and received the Cum Laude honor for his work. Rene Rozendal has won the Marcel Mulder award in 2006.

The DOW Energy Dissertation Prize ceremony was on November 25, 2009 in The Hague, where the award was presented to Cees Buisman, as supervisor of Rozendal, by Minister van der Hoeven. Rene himself is in Australia, working at the University of Queensland.

Wetsus is of course very honoured by the continuing success of Rozendal’s excellent work and congratulates Rene and Wageningen University with this important award.
