Wetsus Aquatech Executive Masterclass China

For the first time ever Wetsus and Aquatech organized their Executive Masterclass outside the Netherlands. On May 31, strong Chinese and European participants learned more about avoiding pitfalls and being successful in the immense Chinese market from Mark Schaub, Partner at
King & Wood. Sridhar Kumaraswamy, VP Philips Water & Air, gave inside on the strategy of Philips for the Chinese Point of Use market. The next day two Water Business Cases were discussed in depth: Helge Daebel, Investment Manager Water at Emerald Ventures presented the case: “Capturing values from Chinese Waters. Mapping technology needs and according business models“, and Meino Toering, Managing Director at Norit Filtrix, presented the case: “Courting the Dragon”, about the opportunities for Point of Entry systems in China.
In many ways it was an exciting and challenging event!

Wetsus Match Making Weekend

In the weekend of June 11-13, the Wetsus Match Making Weekend was organized for the second time. During this weekend PhD and MSc students in the field of water technology and business education and (recently started) entrepreneurs exchanged their plans, ambitions and opportunities in the water sector, trying to match their ideas. Hopefully this will lead to some new business spin-off in the near future. The weekend was spent sailing across the IJsselmeer.

Wetsus is happy to announce that in the last few months three colleagues successfully defended their thesis.
On April 16: Marthe de Graaff, Wageningen University, “Resource recovery from black water”.
On June 21: Bas Wols, Delft University of Technology, “CFD in drinking water treatment”.
On June 29: Agata Brzozowska, Wageningen University, “Reduction of protein adsorption on surfaces coated with Complex Coacervate Core Micelles”.
We congratulate these three young doctors, and wish them all the best in their next career steps!

Open Door Day
