Scientific program manager, Coordinator Agriculture
As Coordinator Agriculture and management team member at Wetsus, and as part of the R&D team at Oosterhof Holman, Chris contributes to closing local nutrient cycles and is responsible for the development of the soil research program at Wetsus. In doing so, he aims to promote healthy soils, which form the foundation for sustainable agriculture and a healthy society.
Chris carried out his PhD research in collaboration with Wageningen University within the Soil theme at Wetsus. His research focused on developing a technology for the efficient and sustainable recovery of nutrients, particularly phosphorus, from animal and human manure during anaerobic digestion. The recovered nutrients can be reused as fertilizers, reducing the need for mineral fertilizers.
