Around 80% of customers’ complaints to the water utilities are about unwanted aesthetic aspects of drinking water that are generated during its distribution. Recent technological advances and increasing scientific evidence suggest that machine learning can help water utilities tap into knowledge relating to the drinking water microbiome gained from meta-omics data.
