I am interested in the fascinating world of the gut microbiome and its impact on human health and disease. During my Ph.D at Wetsus, I will study the impact of the microbiome of non-chemically treated drinking water on the microbiome of the human gut by using a simulator of the human intestinal microbial ecosystem. A solid understanding of the dynamics of the microbial ecosystem in the simulator is required to detect and interpret results as a function of treatment.
